My Therapeutic Approach and Expertise
I am a licensed clinical psychologist with extensive experience providing evidence-based psychotherapy. I completed my PhD at the University of Massachusetts Boston, as well as my predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the Yale School of Medicine.
I take an active, collaborative, client-centered approach to therapy. I bring considerable expertise in evidence-based practices – techniques that we know work, based on decades of research – while treating YOU as the expert on your life and experiences. We work as a team to clarify what matters most to you, identify the obstacles getting in your way, and develop the skills you need to overcome them. Beyond alleviating psychological suffering and pain, my goal is to empower clients to build rich, meaningful lives and relationships. From the start of therapy, I cultivate a warm, validating space, where you feel safe to explore, grow, and make challenging but important changes. Many of my clients have described me as refreshingly transparent. Though the focus of our time will always be on you, I share my thoughts, perspectives, and working hypotheses during sessions and invite your feedback.
Most often, I work with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, life transitions, sleep difficulties, motivational challenges, identity concerns, and/or relationship issues. I use and integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), the Unified Protocol (UP), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills, Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), and mindfulness-based approaches. A particular emphasis of my training and ongoing practice is tailoring evidence-based interventions to fit each individual client, based on their unique circumstances, stage of life, and cultural identities. I am an antiracist and LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist.
